Bhavleen Kaur is an architect, interdisciplinary researcher, and educator. She is a Visiting Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Doctor of Design (DDes) program at Florida International University (FIU). She is Senior Personnel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-funded ReefShield: Data-Driven Living Infrastructure for Climate-Resilient Biscayne Bay, based at the FIU Robotics and Digital Fabrication (RDF) Lab. Since 2021, she serves as the steering member of DigitalFUTURES International, a volunteer-led platform democratising architectural education.

Bhavleen’s research explores the multiplicities of computational design, robotics, and emerging technologies in architecture. She investigates autodidactic learning as a pedagogical tool for expanding access to digital tools in architectural education. Her research leadership includes serving as Research Group Lead for two National Science Foundation projects: Research on Innovative Technologies for Enhanced Learning (NSF-RITEL) and Augmented Learning for Environmental Robotics (NSF-ALERT).

Bhavleen is a recipient of the 2024 FIU Outstanding Graduate Award, an AAUW International Fellowship ‘24, the Autodesk ACADIA 2023 BIPOC Scholarship, and the ROB|ARCH 2024 Scholarship.

Bhavleen holds a Doctor of Design (DDes) from FIU, a postgraduate degree in Scientific Communication of Research from ISEC Lisbon, and a Master’s in Advanced Architecture from ELISAVA School of Design, Barcelona. From 2015 to 2022, she was an Assistant Professor of Computational Design at BSSA, Mumbai, where she taught studios in computational design thinking and digital fabrication. From 2020 to 2023, she co-tutored exchange workshops between the master’s studio in Mumbai and ELISAVA in Barcelona.
